Cary Masjid adheres to the traditional principle that Islamic lunar months begin, and end based on the confirmed, naked-eye sighting of the new crescent moon.
The new crescent moon (hilal) of Dhul-Hijjah being sighted on Sunday evening (Aug. 12th) by numerous moonsighters in locations around the world including Australia, Asia, Africa, South America, and in North America.
This marks the end of the month of Dhul-Qi’dah and the beginning of the sacred month of Dhul-Hijjah, with its first day commencing on Monday, Aug. 13th. The day of Eid al-Adha (the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah) will therefore be on Wednesday, August 22nd Insha’Allah.
Eidul-Adha prayer will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 8:00 am (sharp) at the current Cary Masjid location – 1076 W Chatham St., Cary NC.
May Allah make this blessed month a source of benefit, enrichment, and closeness to Allah, Most High.
