Alhumdulillah Ramadan Kareem started Thursday Aug 12th (1st Ramadhan).
Inshallah Lailatul-Qadr (Shab-e-Qadr) will be on the night of Monday Sept 6th (27th of Ramadhan) and Inshallah we will finish the Taraweeh recitation of the Quran. The masjid will be open all night for Ibadath.
We will be crescent watching on Thursday, September 9, 2010 (Ramadan 29, 1431) to determine the start of Shawwal 1, 143. Eid-ul-Fitr will be on either Friday, September 10, 2010 or Saturday, September 11, 2010.

Ramadhan 1431 AH
10:55pm - We will start fasting on Thursday as there were no
authenticated sightings of the new crescent. Fajr is at 5:45am on
Wed. Isha is 9:45pm followed by Taraweeh Inshallah.
We will be crescent watching on Thursday, September 9, 2010 (Ramadan 29,
1431) to determine the start of Shawwal 1, 1431 (Eid-ul-Fitr).
Eid-ul-Fitr will be on either Friday, September 10, 2010 or Saturday,
September 11, 2010.

8:55 pm - No sightings of the moon as of yet, including from some of our contacts in the Caribbean

For Ramadhan, if there is a confirmed moon sighting in North American
tonight, we will start fasting on Wed Aug 11th, otherwise Shabaan will
complete 30 days and we will start Thur Aug 12th.
If the moon is not sighted in the east coast, we will wait until sunset in the west coast to make an announcement, thus the
announcement may come late (see visibility charts here).
Taraweeh will be performed on the night preceding the first fast so if
the moon is sighted tonight there will be Taraweeh at the Cary Masjid.

Monday night there multiple confirmed sightings of the new crescent
(Texas & California) and thus Rajab will have 29 days and Shabaan
begins Tuesday July 13th, 2010.
The 15th of Shabaan - the Night of Nifs-Shabaan -will be Monday Night -
July 26th Inshallah. Nafil Ibadath for that night and throughout the
month can be found in this

The new moon for RAMADHAN 1431 will be sought on 29th of Shabaan,
the night of Tuesday August 10th Inshallah to determine if the 1st
of Ramadhan is on Wednesday August 11th or Thursday August 12th.
Taraweeh will be performed on the night preceding the first fast.

Sunday night there was a confirmed sighting of the new crescent and thus
Jammad-at-Thaani will have 29 days and Rajab begins Monday June 14th,
2010. Alhumdulillah three brothers from the local community saw the new
crescent in northern NC as well.
The 27th of Rajab - the Night of Heavenly Ascension Isra - Me'raaj -will
be Friday Night - July 9th Inshallah. Nafil Ibadath for that night and

tonight with the 1st being March 17th, 2010.

The new moon for Jamadi-al-Awal 1431 will be sought on the night of
Wednesday April 14th Inshalalh -29th of Rabi-al-Thaani.

Rabi-ul-Awal 1431
Sunday night there was no confirmed sighting of the new crescent and
thus Safar will complete 30 days and Rabi-ul-Awal will start on Monday
after Maghrib Inshallah. The new moon was spotted on Monday night (and
it was a beautiful sight I might add).
The blessed and awaited 12th of Rabi-ul-Awal will be on Saturday February 27th Inshallah, the same day as our Hamd-e-Naat program .
The new moon for Rabi-Thani 1431 will be sought on the night of Tuesday March 16th Inshalalh -29th of Rabi-ul-Awal.

Safar 1431
Safar will start on Sunday January 17th because the new moon was not
sighted on Friday January 15th. The new moon will have its sighting
attempted on the 29th of Safar, Monday Feb 14th, leading to the month
of Rabi-ul-Awal possibly starting Tue Feb 15th.

Muharram 1431
The new moon of Muharram was seen Thursday night making Friday Dec 18th
the start of the new islamic new year. The 10th of Muharram, Ashura,
will be on Sunday Dec 27th. It is a Sunnah to fast on either the 9th
& 10th or on the 10th & 11th. Safar's new moon will be anticipated to be seen on the 29th of Muharram corresponding to the night of Jan 15th.

Zhul-Hijjah 1430
9:30 pm - Eid-ul-Adha will be on Friday Nov 27th
Inshallah. The 1st of Zul-Hijjah will Wednesday Nov 18th. This is
based on local matla and verified sighting of the moon by dozens in
Trinidad. Eid salat details will be provided in the coming days
Inshallah.
Eid Salat will be offered at three times in the community on Friday Nov 27th (please bring your own prayer rug):
1) At the Dorton Arena ; please gather at 6:30am and salath will be at 7:30am sharp
2) At the Apex Mosque ; please gather at 7:00am and salath will be at 8:00am sharp
3) At the Dorton Arena ; please gather at 9:00am and salath will be at 10:00am sharp
Jummah Salat will be offered at the regular time, starting at 12:45, in the Cary Masjid.
6:25 pm - No confirmed sighting still. Check back tonight.
6:10 pm - No moon has been sighted yet. Local attempts at Maghrib time were unsuccessful as the western sky was too cloudy (see Twiiter updates).
Wed Dec 16th will be the 29th of Zul-Hijjah and thus the 1st of
Muharram 1431 will be either on Thur Dec 17th or Fri Dec 18th. Please

Moonsighting on the 29th of Shawwal, Sun Oct 18th, did not sight the new crescent, thus Shawwal will complete 30 days and the first of Zhul-Qadah will be on Tue Oct 20th.
This means the 29th of Shawwal will be on Tue Nov 17th, and Tue night we will go Moonsighting Inshallah to sight the moon for Zul-Hijjah.

Note, the start of Ramadan will be determined by moonsighting on the 29th night of Shabaan, Friday August 21st,
and thus Ramadan will begin either Saturday Aug 22nd or Sunday Aug 23rd
if Shabaan has 30 days. There will be no moonsighting or announcement
on Thursday night, August 20th.

Hence, Rajab will complete 30 days and Shaban 1430H starts on Friday, July 24, 2009G. Thursday night August 16th is the night of 15th of Shabaan, a blessed night for Nafil Ibadath.
Note, the start of Ramadan will be determined by moonsighting on the 29th night of Shabaan, Friday August 21st,
and thus Ramadan will begin either Saturday Aug 22nd or Sunday Aug 23rd
if Shabaan has 30 days. There will be no moonsighting or announcement
on Thursday night, August 21st.

The first day of Safar 1430 AH will be Wednesday January 28, 2009.
The Hilalsighting Committee of North America would like
to confirm that Hilal was not sighted in North America on January 26, 2009G
evening
Hence we complete 30 days of Muharram and Safar 1430H starts on
January 28, 2009G in North America. The astronomical data also clearly predicted the impossibility of naked-eye
sighting in North America.
