There have been no positive reports of moonsighting in Americas, Eid-ul-Fitr will be on Sunday, May 24th, innShaAllah!

Bismillah, Walhamdulillah, Was-Salatu Was-Salamu ‘Ala Rasulillah,

Assalamu Alaikum Dear Brothers and Sisters,

As many of you are now aware, the Triangle Area Masajid, including the Islamic Association of Cary (Cary Masjid), have decided to suspend all on-site services and activities – including the daily congregational as well as Friday prayers – until further notice.

This decision is based on the Legal Opinions of all the religious leaders in our masajid. It is founded on many fatawa by Fiqh councils in the US and the fatwa-departments in many Muslim countries.

We have made this decision after long discussions and detailed review of the situation, and based on authentic reports of the public health professionals in the USA, and in compliance with the restrictions and recommendations of federal, state and local Government officials.

The decision is founded on agreed-upon principles in the Islamic Law, such as “prioritizing the preservation of human life”, and “the precedence of preventing harm over the acquisition of benefits.”, and that strong-assumption/probability/fear of potential harm is recognized in the Islamic rulings.

Allah(SWT) said in The Qur’an (what may be translated as):

“.. He has not laid on you any hardship (or burden) in the observance of your faith ..” [22:78]

In these circumstances, we remember the guidance from The Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wasallam), mentioned in Sahih Bukhari and Muslim, where He(sallallahu alaihe wasallam) instructed his Mua’zin on a very rainy day to call: “Pray at your homes”.

We strongly recommend and urge you to view the Islamic References on this matter, at:

Remember, praying in congregation at home is as rewardable as praying in the Masjid if you are unable to come to the Masjid due to an excuse of the scale such as the current one.

In Sha Allah, we will keep reassessing the situation on a regular basis and will not be hesitant to resume services as soon as the circumstances allow.

We ask you to please continue to monitor our website and social media for recommendations on how to make the best out of this situation, that is, increasing worship with family while at home. We will continue to provide remote services and virtual events.

Having taken all the necessary precautions, our full trust and reliance remains upon Allah(SWT). We urge the Community to utilize these extraordinary circumstances by returning to Allah(SWT) and drawing near to Him(SWT) through the various acts of Worship following the Prophetic guidance. For instance, reciting Quran, performing extra Prayers and increasing Supplications.

We pray that Allah(SWT) guides us and protects everyone during this calamity.
