ICC Interfaith Committe
In the name of Allah [God], the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,
Welcome to the Islamic Center of Cary’s interfaith and community engagement team page! Our team is composed of a group of community volunteers supported by Imam Sami Kocak. Our mission is to build trust between Muslims and neighbors in our community. We believe that by engaging in open dialogue, shared experiences, and collaborative action, we can contribute to the flourishing of our hometown of Cary and the wider Triangle region.
We take particular inspiration from the following verses from the Holy Quran:
“And [the virtuous] give food—despite their desire for it—to the poor, the orphan, and the captive, ˹saying to themselves,˺ ‘We feed you only for the sake of Allah, seeking neither reward nor thanks from you.’” [76:8-9] (English translation from The Clear Quran.- https://quran.com/en/al-insan/8-9)
Our activities include: an annual iftar (fast-breaking dinner) during the holy month of Ramadan, community service projects with local organizations, and interfaith dialogue sessions for sharing perspectives and exploring common values.
